Government officers to submit asset details online through FBR portal

KARACHI: The government has made it mandatory for BS-17 and above officers to submit their income and asset declarations online through the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) portal, replacing the previous manual system.

As per federal government’s directives, the Sindh Police has also ordered its officers to comply with the new digital system. Officers have been directed to submit their declarations for the 2025-26 financial year by October 30, 2026.

Under the new mechanism, officers must provide details of their income, bank accounts, properties, investments, vehicles, shares, prize bonds, and other valuable assets. Officers must also declare information on movable and immovable assets held by their spouses.

Officers will also need to disclose domestic and foreign bank accounts, sources of income, family income, children’s education and educational expenses, utility bills, private foreign travel expenses, bank loans, and other liabilities.

They will also have to explain any changes in the value of their assets compared with the previous financial year. The declaration process also seeks details on social media accounts, foreign citizenship, and permanent residency.

The information submitted through the FBR portal will be subject to risk-based verification, while selected non-sensitive information may subsequently be published on the FBR website.

Officials who provide false information, conceal assets or fail to submit their declarations within the prescribed deadline may face disciplinary action.

The Establishment Division issued the relevant memorandum on September 16, directing the digitalisation of asset declarations for BS-17 and above officers. The new system has been introduced under Section 15-A of the Civil Servants Act, 1973 and the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026.
