Fawad Chaudhry Welcomes Continued Government-PTI Talks, Urges Political Stakeholders to Resolve Issues

LAHORE: Former federal minister and political leader Fawad Chaudhry has welcomed the agreement between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to continue negotiations, expressing hope that political parties and the establishment would responsibly work toward resolving outstanding issues.

In a post on X, Fawad Chaudhry said it was encouraging that the government and PTI had agreed to continue talks, adding that the development could provide greater political space in the country.

He expressed hope that political parties and the establishment would handle the situation responsibly and take matters toward a resolution.

In another post, Fawad Chaudhry questioned the usefulness of a meeting between PTI founder Imran Khan and Opposition Leader in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. He said that if a meeting with Imran Khan was to be arranged, priority should instead be given to Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Ijaz Chaudhry, Yasmin Rashid and Mahmoodur Rashid. He claimed that Nasir Abbas and Imran Khan did not know each other personally.

Meanwhile, according to a post by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, important talks were held between representatives of the government, Pakistan Peoples Party and the opposition under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

The meeting discussed the overall political situation and national issues in detail.

The government and allied delegation included Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Mohsin Naqvi, Senator Sherry Rehman, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Talal Chaudhry, Ejaz Jakhrani, Naveed Qamar, Rana Sanaullah and Amir Muqam.

The opposition was represented by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Asad Qaiser, Amir Dogar and Salman Akram Raja.

According to the statement, the participants exchanged views on various political and national matters and emphasized resolving political differences through dialogue, mutual consultation and parliamentary forums.

It said differences of opinion were natural in a democracy, while sustainable solutions to national issues could be achieved through dialogue and political reconciliation. The participants expressed hope that the talks would contribute to political stability, mutual trust and the strengthening of parliamentary traditions in the country.
