Government Officers Ordered to Declare Dual Citizenship Details Within One Week

ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division has directed civil servants holding dual nationality to submit details regarding their foreign citizenship within one week under the Foreign Citizenship of Government Officials Rules 2026.
According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Establishment Division, government officers will be required to provide details of any foreign citizenship, foreign travel documents and marriage to a foreign national.
The memorandum warned that failure to comply or submission of incorrect information could lead to departmental action. Officers have been given one week to submit their declarations, failing which action may be initiated against those who do not comply.
It further stated that submitting a false declaration would be considered misconduct by a civil servant. Failure to submit the required declaration could result in proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
Civil servants will also be required to provide details regarding the foreign citizenship status of themselves and their dependents.
Meanwhile, chief secretaries and provincial police chiefs have also been directed to take similar measures regarding the submission of foreign citizenship-related declarations by relevant officials.
