DG ISPR Sends Clear Message to KP Government: “Things Cannot Continue Like This,” Says Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry effectively presented a charge sheet against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government during his press conference a day earlier.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif said the DG ISPR had made it clear that political cover could not be used to conceal alleged facilitation of terrorism.

“You cannot hide behind politics while being involved in facilitating terrorism. The DG ISPR has conveyed this message in clear words,” the defence minister stated.

Khawaja Asif questioned why the KP government was not taking a more active role in the fight against terrorism.

“We are fighting terrorism. Why don’t you come forward? Are you cowardly, or are you working with terrorists? Why do you create confusion around the narrative against terrorism, and why don’t you build the capacity of the police?” he asked.

The defence minister said the DG ISPR had delivered an almost complete charge sheet against the KP government, adding that the message was clear: “Things cannot continue like this.”

He further emphasized that the state was the foremost priority, saying that politics, democracy and the existence of citizens all depended on the survival of the state.
