Attempts to Seize Control of Karachi, Gwadar, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Are a Serious Joke: Muhammad Zubair Criticizes Government

Islamabad: Leader of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan and former Governor of Sindh, Muhammad Zubair, has strongly criticized the federal government over the country’s economic conditions and the volume of national debt, saying that Pakistan’s total debt in 75 years up to April 2022 was Rs 44,000 billion, but the Shehbaz Sharif government added a record Rs 43,000 billion in the last four and a half years, taking it to Rs 87,000 billion.

In a critical statement issued on the social media platform X, former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair took Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his economic team to task. In a highly sarcastic and humorous tone, he said that more than half of Pakistan’s total debt in its history has been imposed on the country by this government in just four and a half years. “This is Shehbaz Sharif’s wonderful economic performance!” he remarked.

Muhammad Zubair strongly objected to the federation’s attempts to take over provincial affairs and administrative control, saying that Shehbaz Sharif’s federal government first wanted to bring Karachi under its direct control, then Gwadar, and now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well. He asked what could be a bigger and more serious joke than a government that has shown the worst economic and administrative performance in Pakistan’s history attempting such actions.
