UAE Visa holders get major relief, extension rules revealed

DUBAI: UAE visit and tourist visa holders can extend certain visas without leaving the country, depending on the visa type and applicable conditions.
As per a report, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) can extend tourist entry permits, with the total stay limited to 120 days.
Moreover, visas for visiting relatives or friends, as well as permits for seeking employment or starting a business, may be extended for up to 180 days under applicable rules.
However, some entry permits, including certain border-area, truck-driver and recreational boat permits, are not eligible for extension.
For Dubai-issued visas, GDRFA Dubai handles extensions. Sponsors generally submit applications, or, for tourist visas, the issuing travel agency or tourism company.
Moreover, extension fees also vary by visa type. ICP lists Dh100 application and Dh500 extension fees. At the same time, Dubai-issued visas may carry a Dh600 extension fee plus VAT and other charges.
Authorities have also warned visitors and tourists not to assume a grace period after visa expiry, as overstaying may result in a Dh50 daily fine.
