Brother and Sister Die After Eating Poisonous Food in Lahore; Parents Battling Between Life and Death
Lahore (Daily Qudrat): In the Harbanspura area of Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, two innocent children of the same family died allegedly after eating poisonous food, while their parents were shifted to hospital in critical condition. Police registered a case and initiated legal and investigative proceedings from various angles.
According to initial details from police and rescue officials, the tragic incident occurred at a residential house in Harbanspura, where the affected family ate leftover potato-cabbage curry. Shortly after eating the curry, the condition of the husband, wife, and both their children suddenly deteriorated, and they began suffering from severe vomiting and fainting spells. As their condition worsened, area residents immediately informed Rescue 1122, upon which rescue officials reached the scene and shifted all the victims to a nearby hospital in critical condition for immediate medical aid.
It was reported that despite all efforts by the medical staff during treatment at the hospital, both innocent children lost their lives. The deceased children have been identified as Qadeer and Asma. The condition of the children’s father and mother is still said to be extremely critical, and they are being provided medical aid in the ICU. Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent, Crime Scene Unit, and Punjab Forensic Science Agency teams immediately reached the site of the incident.
It has been learned that forensic experts collected food samples, remnants of the potato-cabbage curry, and other important evidence from the kitchen and utensils and sent them for laboratory analysis. Given the seriousness of the situation, a Punjab Food Authority team was also immediately summoned so that the effects of toxic substances could be examined in detail. According to the initial investigative viewpoint issued by forensic experts, it is suspected that a poisonous insect or lizard may have fallen into the cooked curry at night, which caused the food to become severely toxic. The actual and final causes of the incident will only become clear after the forensic report and complete details of the chemical examination come to light.
