Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner: PM Shehbaz Sharif Contacts Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Sends Written Reply to Letter

ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat Quetta): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has contacted Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai and has given a formal written reply to his letter regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. In his reply letter, the Prime Minister assured the Opposition Leader that the constitutional procedure will be fully implemented in the matter of appointing the Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister’s letter has been received by Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, following which he has departed from Quetta to Islamabad amid this important development. According to sources, after arriving in the federal capital, Mahmood Khan Achakzai will hold detailed consultations with opposition leaders on this matter within the next day or two.

Following the Prime Minister’s contact and reply letter, an important meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Mahmood Khan Achakzai is expected next week. In this expected meeting, formal consultations under the Constitution will be held between the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other members.
