Police Yet to Formally Arrest PTI Leader Hamad Azhar Despite Detention

LAHORE:Despite taking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Hamad Azhar into custody, police have yet to formally record his arrest.

According to police sources, several cases have been registered against Hamad Azhar in connection with the May 9 incidents and subsequent events. He was wanted by police in Lahore as well as in several other cities.

Police officials said the legal status of Hamad Azhar’s arrest and the cases registered against him were currently being reviewed. The authorities are preparing the relevant case documents, which will be presented before the court.

It may be recalled that Hamad Azhar was arrested in Multan a day earlier and subsequently handed over to Lahore Police.
