Justice Must Be Accessible and Understandable to Every Citizen: Balochistan CJ Kamran Khan Malakhail

QUETTA: Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Justice Kamran Khan Malakhail has said that providing justice alone is not enough; it must also be made accessible and understandable for ordinary citizens.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a Facilitation Centre at the Balochistan High Court, Justice Malakhail said the establishment of the centre was made possible through the guidance and support of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi.

He said there had previously been a shortage of facilities for litigants, particularly women, at the Balochistan High Court. Keeping these difficulties in view, the Facilitation Centre had been established and completed within a short period of just six months.

The centre provides several basic services under one roof, including an information desk, biometric facilities, washrooms, drinking water and other essential amenities. An air-conditioned waiting area has also been established for litigants.

Justice Malakhail said a one-window facility had been introduced, particularly to assist poor and less-educated litigants, so they would not have to visit different offices to obtain basic information and services.

He added that litigants would be able to use kiosk machines to easily obtain information about their case dates and the relevant benches. The facility would help improve transparency in judicial affairs and ensure timely access to information.

The chief justice said there was no shortage of competence or capability among judges and lawyers at the Balochistan High Court. He maintained that improved systems and better facilities could further enhance the delivery of effective justice to litigants.

Justice Malakhail also stressed the need for strict implementation of security SOPs at courts. He said security must be ensured both inside and outside court premises to provide a safe environment for litigants, lawyers, judges and judicial staff.
