Pakistan Cricket Board Considers Handing Test Team Coaching to Mike Hesson

Lahore:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly considering further changes to the national cricket setup, with Test team coach Sarfaraz Ahmed potentially facing removal after the Test captaincy was recently changed.

According to reports, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, who initially traveled to London with High Performance Director Aaqib Javed for a dinner hosted by Prince Charles, may now be given responsibility for the Test team following Pakistan’s 194-run defeat to England in the Lord’s Test.

Initial reports suggest that the PCB has asked Hesson to oversee Test team affairs. He is also expected to join the national squad for the third and final Test against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham, starting on September 9, and could be present in the dressing room during the match.

The development has raised serious questions over the future of red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed.

There is a strong possibility that Hesson could take charge of Pakistan’s Test coaching responsibilities in addition to his existing duties with the ODI and T20I teams.

Reports suggest that Sarfaraz Ahmed could be removed from his position as Test head coach after the conclusion of Pakistan’s ongoing tour of England.
