Imran Khan Would Not Back Down from Long March Even If Shifted to Shifa Hospital: Analyst
ISLAMABAD: Anchorperson and political analyst Asadullah Khan has claimed that former prime minister Imran Khan would not withdraw his demands or his call for a long march even if he were transferred to Shifa Hospital for medical treatment.
In a video commentary on the country’s current political situation, Asadullah Khan said the government was facing a serious political and moral deadlock, with no easy way out.
He said that even if Imran Khan were moved to hospital for treatment, he would continue to insist on his demands and the long march would proceed. According to the analyst, this had become one of the biggest challenges for the government.
Asadullah Khan argued that if Imran Khan continued calling for the long march while receiving treatment in hospital, it could create a strong impression among the public and international community that he was not seeking any deal but was standing firmly by his principles.

He said the government would not want Imran Khan to be portrayed as a fearless leader who continued his political resistance even from a hospital bed, adding that such a situation could prove politically damaging for the ruling coalition.
On the other hand, the analyst said that if the government refused or delayed providing medical treatment or transferring Imran Khan to a hospital under pressure, it could also face serious repercussions.
He noted that international media, human rights organizations and foreign lawmakers were already raising concerns about Imran Khan’s health and fundamental rights, and that these voices could become louder if adequate medical facilities were not provided.
Asadullah Khan further pointed to the important court hearing scheduled for September 16, saying that the proceedings could produce a political or legal development capable of increasing the government’s difficulties.
He concluded that whichever option the government chose, the prevailing circumstances suggested that it was currently facing a highly difficult political situation.
